Rome, Italy
A vacation is what you take when you can no longer take what youve been taking.
stated Earl Wilson. This is important because vacations are about relaxation. Rome, Italy is one
of the most visited historical vacation destinations in the world. Rome has a seasonal climate and
environment, historical attractions and activities, and a unique history. In fact, the climate and
environment of Rome make it a great time to visit in spring.
Romes climate and environment is like no other countries in the world. First, Rome is
located in Europe, but more specifically northwest of Naples, Italy. Also, the Mediterranean Sea
is just to the west of Rome. The season of summer is hot and sunny with very little rainfall
levels. Summer temperatures are normally between 61 degrees Fahrenheit and 82 degrees
Fahrenheit. Amazingly, in this season there is over 9 hours of sunshine per day. Next, fall is the
wettest time of the year with over 5 inches of precipitation. In fall, there is only 4 hours of
sunshine per day. Temperatures are from 45 degrees Fahrenheit to 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Then,
winter is a cool and rainy time of year. January is normally the coldest month of the year in
Rome. Temperatures range from 41 degrees Fahrenheit to 55 degrees Fahrenheit. As the season
progresses, the amount of sunshine per day increases. Lastly, spring is the most comfortable
season of the year in Rome. Spring is the best time to visit because of its enjoyable weather.
There is over 8 hours of sunshine per day at this time of the year. The animals of Rome include
pigeons diving for food bits and cats that roam around the city. Not only does Rome have a
unique climate and environment but it also has many recreational activities.
Rome has many different indoor and outdoor recreational activities. Rome is home to
many different tours, museums, and attractions. The most famous attraction in Rome is the
Coliseum which can hold about 55,000 spectators. Also, the Trevi Fountain is in the middle of
Rome and took almost 30 years to finish. The Spanish Steps are located right next to the Trevi
Fountain, and took 3 years to complete. The most popular sports in Rome are soccer and also
golf. In golf, Rome has its own masters tournament called The Rome Masters. The Italian
Championship League is one of the only professional soccer leagues in Rome. Rome also has a
lot of amateur sports including tennis, basketball, and skiing in the winter. One of the best resorts
in Rome is the Palazzo Montemartini located in downtown Rome. Rome is referred to as the city
of fashion because of all the boutiques and shops. Shops in Rome have store hours and days
completely different from the United States. Piazza di Spagna is where all the fancier shops are
located. Rome has many famous beaches, including the Ostia Antica. Ostia Antica has boating
activities, and lots of open space. Rome is filled with fancy and casual restaurants. Alfredo ed
Ada is a fancy restaurant, but there are pizzerias like the world famous Gusta. In addition to
Romes recreational activities they also have a unique history.
Rome is filled with a rich history. Rome is home to the world famous Coliseum. The
construction for the Coliseum began in 72 A.D. The Coliseum was designed for fight to the death
combats between gladiators and wild animals. Over 9,000 wild animals died in combat in the
year 80 A.D. alone. The Coliseum is over 2,000 years old. Next, the Arch of Constantine is
right next to the Coliseum. Amazingly, it is over 80 feet tall, and was built to remember
Constantines military victory at the battle of Milvian Bridge in 312 A.D. Then, there is the
Forum in Rome which is the center of city life. It hosts many activities including festivals,
funerals, and rituals. Rome was founded by twin brothers, Romulus and Remus, in 753 B.C.
During the 12
th
century Rome was a monarchy, a republic, and an empire. Julius Cesar was
dictator, during this time, until Augustus became the emperor. In conclusion, Rome has a warm
climate and environment, a variety of recreational activities, and a unique history.
Rome, Italy is one of the most visited vacation destinations in the world. To repeat,
Romes climate and environment make it a great vacation spot to tourists in the spring, because
there is over 8 hours of sunshine per day. Again, Rome is filled with many enjoyable indoor and
outdoor recreational activities, including soccer and golf. Once more, Romes history is like no
other countries in the world, because of all of the historic attractions. Obviously, Rome is a great
