Paragraphing

Four main types of paragraphs are used in manuscripts and business documents. They
are:
Blocked
Indented
Hanging
Inset
Blocked This is the most-commonly used paragraph style. Each line of the paragraph
begins at the left margin.
Indented In an indented paragraph, the first line starts a distance usually !."# cm or $
inch% from the left margin. &ll other lines begin at the left margin.
Hanging 'ith a hanging indent only the first line begins at the left margin. &ll other
lines begin a(ay from the margin usually !."# cm or $ inch%. Hanging indents
are used (hen typing entries in bibliographies and reference lists.
)umbered and bulleted lists also use hanging indents, in that the first line is typed at the
left margin, but all other lines begin a(ay from the margin, as sho(n in the e*ample

To create a numbered list:

on the button labeled Bullets and Numbering that is displayed on the
menu bar.

Inset &n inset is used to clearly identify a section of a document, usually a lengthy
/uotation.
