The Amendment Process
o Formal Amendments
Change or addition that become part of the written language of
the constitution itself through one of four methods set forth in
the constitution

method- an amendments may be proposed ;by 2/3 vote in
each house of congress and be ratified by of the state
legislators

nd
- method- An amendment may be proposed by congress and
then ratified by conventions called for that purpose, in of the
state

rd
method- May be proposed by a national convention and
ratified by convention in of states
o Informal Amendments- A change made in the constitution not by
actual written amendment, but by the experience of government
