Vocabulary Tree

Brief Description (in your own words):
This could be used before, during, or after reading. Its a graphic organizer shaped like a tree
that focuses on relating vocabulary words and concepts together. The students get to choose
the placement of the branches and how they will connect and work together. The students can
add words to the tree as the unit progresses.
How you plan to use this strategy in your Practicum, Internship, Student Teaching, or in your
classroom:
I would use this strategy in my student teaching when teaching students body parts. The main
idea of the tree would be body parts and the different branches would be parts related to the
upper and lower body. They could add words to the tree every time they learn a new muscle or
bone and make their own connection for remembering where in the body it is. They could also
write down how the muscle or bone is used and actions that it does.
