The reason I want to pursue Pediatric
Nursing is because its something Ive
always wanted to do.
I want to be able to incorporate
working with kids into my career.
I also love helping others.

Description
Registered Nurses work with a team of
physicians and other healthcare specialists.
Registered Nurses have specific duties such
as record a patients history and symptoms,
administer medications, set of care plans,
observe patients, operate medical
equipment, help perform diagnostic testing,
teach patients how to manage their
illnesses, and explain what to do after they
return home.
Pediatric Nursing Work
Environment
The working environment would mainly consist of
being in a hospital.
They spend a lot of time walking, bending, and
stretching.
The work that they do puts them in contact with a lot
of infectious diseases as well as hazardous drugs
and substances.
They must be able to work nights, days, or holidays.
They may also be on call.

recommends to start out with something

Pros and Cons
Cons: You sometimes have to be available
27/7 and would potentially have to work
holidays. You will have to deal with loss.
There are many risks working in a hospital
including diseases.

Pros: The pay is good. You will never be out
of a job. It is also possible to have a flexible
work schedule.
My Experience and Skills

I work in a nursing home as a medical records
assistant.
By the time I graduate, I plan to have my
Phlebotomy certification.
I love helping others, and I participate in my
youth group and I do a lot of charity work.
I have had multiple experiences working with
kids.
I have taken many science classes such as
Anatomy & Physiology.
I worked as a waitress, so I have good social
skills.


Plans and Goals After
Graduation
After high school I plan to attend a
college that has a nursing program.
I have two different college choices:
West Virginia University and West Virginia
Wesleyan.
I plan to major in nursing or major in
something like biology.
It depends on if there are any jobs
around where I live now for my career
choice and the income.
I want to work in a hospital in the
Intensive Care Unit as a Pediatric Nurse.
After working as a pediatric nurse, I may
consider taking my schooling further.
