International Space Station

By Javier Prieto
The International Space
Station first part was launch
in the year 1998 afterwards
two more pieces were added
using Russian rockets. First
Crew arrived in October
2000.
The international space station took the
combination of three national space
station projects: the Russian/Soviet Mir-
2, NASA's Freedom including the
Japanese Kib laboratory, and the
European Columbus space stations.
Canadian robotics supplements these
projects.
Due to this achievement the
study and advancement of
learning how human beings can
live and survive in space will
help humans one day travel
through space and colonize the
stars.
Weighs almost a million
pounds
Can hold six people.
It is big enough to cover a football
field including the end zones.
Thanks to the study from the international space station humanity will one
da live on Mars.

News Article explaining how
due to the budget the ISS
will cost millions of dollars
and that they could lose
another orbiter.

What is the
International Space
Station?
Project Freedom aka the international space station (ISS) began as an
American effort. But was long delayed by funding and technical
problems.
Originally called Freedom in the 1980s by
Pres. Ronald Reagan, who authorized the
National Aeronautics and Space
Administration (NASA) to build it within
10 years.
It was redesigned in the 1990s to reduce costs and expand international
involvement, at which time it was renamed.
In 1993 the United States and Russia agreed to merge their separate space
station plans into a single facility integrating their respective modules and
incorporating contributions from the European Space Agency (ESA) and Japan.
