both as a sy"bo% and as a too% to contro% !encing
bouts by putting it bet$een the contenders. s $i%%

trans%ated in this artic%e $hich covers precise%y this
scenario. Fro" this ancient custo"# "odern Spanish

interjecting as %itt%e as possib%e o! "y o$n
interpretation o! the "oves described by the author.
)his has he%ped preserve the sty%e and !%o$ o! the
origina%# but has occasiona%%y sacri!iced so"e
readabi%ity. s a reader in the origina% %anguage# '
enjoyed $orking through the occasiona% puDD%e to
better divine the author9s intent# and hope!u%%y the
reader o! this trans%ation $i%% derive so"e p%easure in
the sa"e $ay : there are "any detai%s that are
si"p%y not e,p%icit in the te,t# and "y hope is that '
have preserved the origina% puDD%es $ithout adding
any ne$ ones.

consisted o! adding punctuation# and standardiDing

in the origina% %anguage# not because they are
