Teaching Credential Programs
Reducing course transfers allowed to 6 units instead of 12
Early Field Experience- 40 hours before admission or within the first term plus 20 hours when adding an
additional credential (not listing the EDUU 395 course as a prerequisite)- needs to be done in public school
settings (work in clubs, church groups, sports will no longer be accepted)
TPA 1 Passed before they begin student teaching not just submitted
Student teaching seminar courses paired with each term of student teaching (offered online only) with
synchronous meetings on Wednesdays 7-8 pm
Students in 2013 catalog year or earlier still take EDUU 540 (unless they become an intern in Fall 1, 2014 or

Co-requisite: EDMU 582, or EDSU 592, or EDTU 572 or EDTU 573
This seminar course is taken concurrently with Directed Teaching I and
provides student teachers with opportunities to integrate and reflect on
knowledge and skills acquired during clinical practice experiences.
Candidates focus on developing effective classroom management
strategies, planning for and implementing differentiated instruction, and
assessing student learning. The elements of CalTPA Task Two-Designing
Instruction and CalTPA Task Three-Assessing Learning are addressed.
The course also provides a forum for discussion and problem solving
based on student teaching classroom experiences. 2 credits

EDUU 545 Student Teaching Seminar II
Prerequisite: EDUU 544
Co-requisite: EDMU 583, or EDSU 593, or EDTU 592 or EDTU 593
This seminar course is taken concurrently with Directed Teaching II and
provides student teachers with opportunities to integrate and reflect on
knowledge and skills acquired during clinical practice experiences. Candidates

The elements of CalTPA Task Four-Culminating Teaching Experience are
addressed. The course also provides a forum for discussion and problem

Internship Changes from CTC
CTC Adopted Intern Support and Supervision Requirements
A minimum of 144 hours of support/mentoring and supervision shall
be provided to each intern teacher per school year including
coaching, modeling, and demonstrating within the classroom,
assistance with course planning and problem-solving regarding
students, curriculum, and development of effective teaching
methodologies. The minimum support/mentoring and supervision
provided to an intern teacher who assumes daily teaching
responsibilities after the beginning of a school year shall be equal to
four hours times the number of instructional weeks remaining in the
school year. A minimum of two hours of support/mentoring and
supervision shall be provided to an intern teacher every five
instructional days.

CTC EL Support and Mentoring Changes
The Commission-approved program sponsor shall provide 45 hours of
support/mentoring and supervision per school year, including in-
classroom coaching, specific to the needs of English learners. The
minimum support/mentoring and supervision provided to an intern
teacher who assumes daily teaching responsibilities after the
beginning of a school year shall be equal to five hours times the
number of months remaining in the school year. The
support/mentoring and supervision should be distributed in a manner
that sufficiently supports the intern teachers development of
knowledge and skills in the instruction of English learners.

Multiple Subject Intern Option
Interns must be continuously enrolled in supported teaching
(EDMU 580 or EDMU 581) and the co-requisite internship
seminars (EDUU 546, or EDUU 547, or EDUU 548, or EDUU
549) for the duration of their internship employment. An
internship must be a minimum of two terms in length. The
total credits will vary depending on the length of the
internship.
