HARD DISK BASED
RECORDING SYSTEM

Hard Disk Based Recording, Editing and Playback system with CD ROM drive, CD-
writer and DAT drive networked through high speed LAN switch has been installed in
the Transmission studio, Talk studio, Music/Multipurpose studio and Dubbing/Editing
room of AIR studios. There are two configurations of 2.0/2.4 GHz Intel Pentium 4
processor Hard Disk Based Recording, Editing and Playback systems are available
here. The software details are given below
a) Operating System: Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition

b) Studio recording purpose: Wave Lab Lite Version 1.30.

c) Editing/dubbing purpose: Wave Lab Lite Version 1.30, Creative wave

studio 4.21.06. Sonic Foundry Sound Forge Version 6.0

d) Playback purpose: Winamp 3.0, Windows media player, Creative

Play Center and the default audio player is Winamp.
e) CD Writing Software: Nero burning ROM.

The typical setup of an AIR recording studio, transmission studio and dubbing/editing
room has been shown in figure . The overall setup of a typical setup is also shown
here. The LAN switch is an active device. The LAN switch has been installed at
Control Room All the terminals of HDBS are connected to the sixteen port LAN
switch through enhanced CAT 5 cables.

The audio recording which has already been recorded and stored in the hard disk of
one terminal of the HDBS can be accessed from any other terminal of the HDBS

through LAN. It is to be ensured that the folder storing audio recordings should be
shared first in the concerned terminal of the HDBS. Password protection facility is
available and can be used to give access rights of a given program to the users.
This audio file can be used in any other programme or played back from the
transmission studio. The transfer of files is very fast as the terminals of the HDBS
are connected through a fast Ethernet.
