Death Penalty

Madeline Feiler
We the traditionalist party support the death penalty. We feel that the
crimes of murder, treason, and kidnapping, are capable of receiving a punishment
that meets the full extent of the law, death. We believe this because the
Founding Fathers intended to allow for the death penalty in drawing up the US
Constitution of 1787. We believe that our country was its strongest when we
first developed our government, we had a set plan of life with rights and
responsibilities and with that believing the death penalty is a punishment that in
some cases must be given. Our plan with the death penalty includes continuing to
keep up with the path and process we are currently doing. We feel not all crimes
are to be sentenced with death, murder, treason, and kidnapping are set crimes
that punishment could include death penalty. However only when the assailant
does not show remorse nor did when the act was in progress, or the assailant did
the crime or crimes multiple times. Unlike our opponents we believe that if
someone does something horrific enough to bring fourth the death penalty then
those people do not and should not ever be able to walk the streets of our fine
nation. We believe that when someone is capable of killing a human being(s),
betraying their country, or taking someone away from their loved ones and
normal life, there is no going back. You were in the physical mindset of which you
did not think about your actions in the way of what they would do to the
innocent.
A person who want only takes the life of an innocent human being should
pay the ultimate price, if the sacredness of life is to have any meaning at all
What is barbaric, as well as tragic and pitiful, is the thinking that fails to make the
distinction between the lives of Mr. Graham and the life of the young girl he was
responsible for ending. It is the society that fails to make that distinction, in a way
that is dramatic and without equivocation, which is truly the barbaric one. This
is a direct quote from Richard W. Byrne who witnessed the execution of Andre
Graham. Mr. Byrne was originally against the death penalty. He believed the US
government should not be able to kill another human being, because it was
considered cruel and unusual punishment. Then after witnessing the trial,
interviewing the assailant, and finally watching the execution Mr. Byrne decided

that it was not only just but the right thing to do. He realized that the death
penalty is what allows us to justify the actions of the assailant, while allowing the
victims family and friends a sense of closure. We the traditionalist party believe
that without the death penalty families, victims, and general public wont feel as
safe. (54% of the people participating in the survey feel the death penalty keeps
civilians safe, while lowering the crime rate.) Other people still feel that the death
penalty is unjust because it is doing the same thing to the person found guilty of
the same crime. My question to you is this is it just for people who take away
anothers life to be in turn given life?
