Order of Procedures for Donning (Putting on) PPE Completed using the Buddy System with the Trained Observer/

Remove all jewelry, tie hair back; men should be clean shaven
Apply hand sanitizer
Put on first layer of gloves extend to cover wrists
Put on gown fully cover torso, arms to wrist, and wrap around the back, fasten at the neck with Velcro, tie inner and
then outer ties of gown; tuck inner gloves under gown sleeves
Put on N95 respiratorfit-check respirator
Put on second pair of gloves extending over the gown cuffs/sleeves
Put on face shield ensure it wraps around eyes and covers down to chin
Undergo inspection before entering patient care area, check range of motion to assess proper fit of PPE
Order of Procedures for Doffing (Taking off) PPE Completed using the Buddy System with the Trained Observer/
Buddy
1. Undergo inspection to detect visible contamination, rips or
tears in PPE (remove with wipe if visibly contaminated)
2. Decontaminate gloves with hand sanitizer/wipes
3. Remove outer gloves
4. Decontaminate inner gloves with hand sanitizer/wipes and
inspect for tears
5. Remove gown touching only the inside of the gown
6. Decontaminate gloves with hand sanitizer/wipes
7. Remove inner gloves touching only the inside of gloves
8. Apply hand sanitizer
9. Don a clean pair of gloves

Keep your hands away from your face
Be slow and very deliberate. Count to 5 between each
step
Limit surfaces touched
Carefully follow directions
Change gloves when torn or contaminated
Change all PPE if other contamination is noted
