Course Description:
The student will learn about the management of individual and family resources such as
finances, food, clothing, shelter, health care, recreation, transportation, time, and human capital.
Course Purpose:
The purpose of this course is to focuses on consumer practices and responsibilities, the money
management process, decision making, and the impact of technology on personal finance.

Prerequisites: Grades 10-12, computer with Internet access.
Prerequisite skills: Students must be familiar with Microsoft Office 2007 or 2010

Learning Environment:
This course will take place entirely online. The following is the course website;
ww.wedmodo.com. All assignments and quizzes, will follow the schedule given in the Topics
section of the course syllabus. All assignments are located on the course website and should be
handed in according to the instructions and course schedule located website.

Grading Policy:
All assignments must be completed by the assigned due date in order to receive full credit.
Grades will be determined on the following scale, based on percentage of students total
accumulated points to the total possible points for the course.
90-100%=A
80-89%= B
70-79%= C
Below 70%=F
Evaluation Activities:
Participation:
I expect each student to engage in a communication with his/her peers during the semester.
Communication modes include discussions, chats, and email. There are 20 participation points
available (averaged into the daily grades) during the 6 weeks.
Quizzes:
Quizzes will be administered 4 times throughout the course to check your comprehension of the
course material. Quizzes will be timed, with 60 minutes available.
Completing assignments:
A description for each assignment will be provided throughout the course. Points awarded will
be based on criteria provided for each assignment. All assignments will be completed and
submitted online through the Moodle assignment feature.
The majority of your grade will come through application assignments. There will be a total of 5
Topics, each containing multiple assignments, including discussion topics, and quizzes.
Academic Integrity:
Academic integrity is a responsibility of all faculty and students. Faculty members promote
academic integrity in multiple ways including instruction on the components of academic
honesty, as well as abiding by university policy on penalties for cheating and plagiarism.
Academic dishonesty includes both cheating and plagiarism. Cheating includes but is not limited
to (1) using or attempting to use unauthorized materials to aid in achieving a better grade on a
component of a class; (2) the falsification or invention of any information, including citations, on
an assigned exercise; and/or (3) helping or attempting to help another in an act of cheating or
plagiarism.
If caught students will receive a 0 for the assignment and the appropriate administrator will be
notified.
