Kolb EDUC 461 Fall 2014

Short Range Learning Objectives/Standards for Unit

Kindergarten- Fall/Pumpkins
The unit Pumpkins will be based on the season of Fall. Pumpkins grow and change in the
fall and are used for Halloween and Thanksgiving. Students will be learning about the basic
needs of pumpkins, the growing changes or life cycle of a pumpkin, using describing words
for pumpkins, reading about pumpkins (fiction and nonfiction), experimenting with pumpkins,
and using math skills with pumpkins such as counting lines on the pumpkin, and measuring
them with manipulatives.
These activities will let the students explore as well as integrate all basic subjects together and
use many assessments such as turn and talk partners, recording predictions, writing journals,
and using manipulatives for a real life object.
