Library Media Program Evaluation Rubric


I, Patti Deep, have completed a self-evaluation rubric for the school year 2014-2015. This evaluation
rubric is in regards to the duties, procedures, and responsibilities as the acting Telfair County Elementary
School Media Specialist.
Basic Indicators:

Streaming video is used throughout the school to support the curriculum. Interactive
whiteboards and computers are used for teaching and learning throughout the school. A
central electronic media distribution system is also available.
a. TCES is working on developing a systematic system that will allow TCES morning
programs to be done through the distribution system.
b. TCES administration and media specialist will set up a procedure for teachers that would
like to show programs through the distribution system. Copyright and fair use laws will
be followed at all times.
Print and non-print library media center resources are adequate to support the core
curriculum. Two or three computers for student access to online resources are available in
the media center.
a. Currently, TCES has four student computers.
b. A cart of computers will be placed in the TCES media center by March 2015. This will
allow the media specialist to teach classes in the media center. In addition, students will
be able to come to the media center and seek information from the TCES media center
website, Galileo, and SIRS Discoverer in the media center.
c. One of the TCES conference rooms are located in the TCES media center. TCES has
recently purchased a mobile television cart that contains a laptop computer with HDMI
cable and a 55 inch television. This will allow faculty and administration to use the
conference room when teaching small group settings, parent conference, leadership
meetings, and other important meetings.

Action Plan:

Proficient A library media advisory committee exists and meets a minimum of twice a
year. Planning and evaluation of the library media program is executed regularly.
a. TCES is in the first year of a library media advisory committee. All of the members
represent different divisions in the school. For example, a teacher from each grade, and
a teacher from special education, gifted, and the arts department.
b. A manual and guidelines will be formed so that all members understand media center
procedures.
c. All guidelines and procedures will be reviewed with the administration beforehand.
d. The library media advisory committee will set one goal that will need to be completed
for the 2014-2015 school year. This goal will strive to enhance the overall learning
experience of all students at TCES.
