AFFIDAVIT
I, ARCADIO G. GABANI, of legal age, single, Filipino and a resident of Barangay
Bay-ang, San Jorge, Samar, Philippines, having been duly sworn in accordance with law, hereby
depose and state:
1. That I am applying as a victim of human rights violation committed as follows:
Sometime in November 1, 1984 at about 8:00 oclock in the morning, there was a
military operation in our barangay (Barangay Bay-ang, San Jorge, Samar) headed by
Captain Barrido under Alpha Co., 19IB. While me and my son, Arellano Gabani were
doing some farm works and cultivating the fields, a group of military soldiers arrived in
our farm. Three armed men pointed their armalite rifles at my back and they also
repeatedly hit my back with their rifles. Then they tied up my arms behind my back and
I was forced to join on their patrol. My son Arellano Gabani did not want to be separated
from me so he closely held my hands and went with the military. However, before
leaving the farm, the military burned our house wherein our valuable things were inside
including thirty sacks of palay. That my son, Arellano Gabani was not permitted by the
military to go back to our home and until now, he is still missing and I believe that he is
already dead.
2. That I am executing this Affidavit to attest to the veracity of the foregoing facts and in
support of my application for reparation and/or recognition as victim of human rights
violations during the Marcos Regime as provided under RA 10368.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this 23rd day of September
2014, at Catarman, Northern Samar, Philippines.
