I chose the portrait of a learning assignment because it is an example of
how individual differences impacts learning in the classroom. By assessing this student, I found out some of his likes and dislikes. I also found out that he likes to use his hands to manipulate objects which make him a kinesthetic learner. I found out that he likes to discover things on his own without any help. He likes to be engaged at all times and when given idle time, he often finds something inappropriate to do. He can relate to concrete symbols as opposed to abstract symbols. Things that are more easily associated with what that represent. For example; if you gave him a fork and a picture of someone eating, he would associate choose the fork to represent mealtime. The Piagetian tasks are very resourceful in determining the learning styles of students.
