Permanent Learning Area- Sensory
Resources and experiences that support childrens learning: This trough area has been designed to allow the children to explore a variety of natural materials, textures and feeling, such things could include: bark, sand, water, shaving cream, ice etc. This area is available to 4 children at a time, so the children can interact and share the experience with peers. Our sensory troths will be specifically planned by the educator to meet the needs and interests of the children. These troths and sensory experience will help develop and improve the childrens fine motor skills.
Educators role in supporting learning:
Educators use observation, documentation and conversations to gather information on each child and provide experiences that support their interests and needs. As educators our main focus is providing a stimulating environment for all the children. We also encourage parent input to help see what the childrens interests are in their home environment to ensure the relationship between the home and kinder environment flow.
How this supports the Early Years Learning Framework:
Outcome 4 -This area allows children to develop dispositions for learning such as curiosity, co-operation, creativity, confidence, persistence, problem solving, construction and investigating. Outcome 4.4 - Children resource their own learning by manipulating resources to investigate, take apart, assemble, invent and construct. Outcome 3.1 Children become strong in their social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing by making new discoveries and sharing their efforts and achievements with others. They also learn to share resources and increasingly co-operate and work collaboratively with others. Principle 1- Secure, respectful and reciprocal relationships: This principle best relates to this area as emotional support helps assist children to develop the skills and understandings they need to interact positively with others. They help children to learn about their responsibilities to others and appreciate their connectedness and interdependence as learners, and to value collaboration and teamwork. Practices relating to the Natural area: Holistic Approach, Learning through play, responsiveness to children, and the learning environment.
