For your final project in our Halloween unit, you will be creating a short film that will reflect your learning about suspense and foreshadowing, as well as refresh your knowledge of literary devices. You may develop any kind of scary film you want (horror, psychological thriller, goofy scary film, etc.), in groups of two, three, or four. This film will be due by 8:30 am on Halloween (Friday, Oct. 31), and will be shown in class during our Halloween party.
Your film must:
Be appropriate (not too gory or frightening, not offensive, no questionable language or action) Have a coherent plot (exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution or cliffhanger) /12 Be 4 to 8 minutes long
Your film must include:
At least 3 specific instances of foreshadowing /6 At least 3 different suspenseful moments (ex: suspenseful tone of voice, suspenseful lines, creepy music, dark lighting, etc). These must be different from your 3 instances of foreshadowing. /6 At least 3 different literary devices from the following list: /6 Simile (Ex: Wow, the wind is howling like a banshee!) Metaphor Personification Flashback Alliteration Hyperbole Allusion Your group must also turn in a page write-up with your film that identifies where you included each of these elements.
