During the month of November students in our class

worked through several activities associated with

'Anti-bullying' and heightening their awareness about
being a good 'Digital Citizen'. We have thoroughly
enjoyed the grade two students leading prayer and
the grade three students sharing their research
assignments on saints.
RELIGION
During the month of December, students in grades
1 to 3 will gather each week to celebrate Advent and
to learn more about the Jesse Tree. Our school
community Advent mass is during the school day on
December 18th. Grade two students are beginning to
do activities to learn about the Sacrament of
Reconciliation. Students will also be reading Bible
stories which teach of Gods love and forgiveness for
all. The Grade 3 students will engage in a media
activity to create their "family flag".
In addition to the primary Advent celebrations we
will talk about symbols and stories surrounding the
Christmas story.
LANGUAGE ARTS
The majority of our grade two students are now
reading and decoding more difficult vocabulary. We
have started to focus on learning about the
components of a story beginning, middle and end and
what each section calls for. We will add an additional
component which helps students to identify with the
main idea, which is an important component to learn
as they must apply it in grade three.
Grade three students are currently working on
reading narratives to continue improving their
comprehension skills by making connections and
making inferences. They are also working on
developing their comprehensive responses in
conjunction with the stories we are reading.
All the students will soon begin to prepare for our
Annual Christmas Poetry Presentation on December
18th in the afternoon.

MATHEMATICS
In math, we will continue to build our
numeration strategies both with addition and
subtraction. Please continue to practice these
concepts at home through practical hands on
activities and games as well as through your child's
online account on 'Dreambox'. Once the grade two
students finish working on data management they will
work on learning concepts in two dimensional
geometry. The grade three students will finish up
data management and begin to work on two
dimensional geometry concepts related to
characteristics of shapes, parallel lines, congruent
sides and different angles.
SCIENCE
The children are now learning about Matter and
Materials. They have already completed a couple of
activities which have them discovering about the
properties of matter. The children are mainly
responsible for learning about the concepts dealing
with solids and liquids. The grade three students have
begun their unit on "Forces" and will shortly have the
opportunity to explore the forces of nature using the
chrome books.

COMMUNICATION
Thank you to the on-going support of our dedicated
volunteers. They have assisted with many different
tasks, including accompanying us to the pool and
continue to support your child's learning. Continue to

for updates in the blog section. Also try to allow for
your child to practice reading using their Raz Kids
