Activity 1.1
(A). ICT means Information and Communication Technologies and is based on satisfying needs
for communication and information which will bring about the building of knowledge (IICD,
2014). ICT is important for developing countries because it brings about social and economic
activity; expands access to communication; reduce cost; stimulate economic growth and
encourages full and effective participation in the global economy and information society (Wild,
2006).
(B). According to Wild (2006), three factors that hinder developing countries from attaining the
full benefits of ICT are human and institutional capacity; lack of regional integration and
competing national priorities.

Activity 1.2
Pedagogical perspective can be described as the teaching strategies, techniques or the approaches
that are used by teachers to facilitate the teaching and learning process (Wang, 2008). The use of
ICT in the pedagogical perspective involved social interaction and technology.
Social interaction refers to acts, actions or practices of two or more persons mutually oriented
towards each others selves (Rummel, 1976). Social interaction is a two way street and for
learning to take place there must be social interaction between teacher and students or students
and students. ICT is a means that is used to promote social interactions. The computer, tablets
and telephones are to major devices that facilitate social interaction. These devices allow
individuals to send text messages, emails, have chats and have verbal conversation with each
other.
Technology is artifacts made by people such as machines and the methods used to create those
artifacts (WiseGreek, 2014). The computer and telephones are two major technologies that
enhance learning. The computer is mainly used by online learners to promote learning. Online
environment are organized so as to bring about learning and can be access through the use of
some cell phones, tablets and computers. Teaching and learning take place via these devices as
is done for this course.
The use of ICT in the pedagogical perspective involved social interaction and technology.
Technology is important as it aid in the promotion of social interaction among individuals.
