a. Use spelling and grammar check, configure
AutoCorrect settings, and insert and modify
comments in a document.
Sponge activity:
1. Students will go to gcflearnfree.org/topics and take the tutorial
on job search and networking. This can be found by going to the
careers category and clicking on Job search and networking.
Instruction
2. Students will be given the Job Search activity handout. You may
print the handout or upload it for your students. Students will use
the internet to search for two jobs they are interested in. Refer to
handout for specific directions. The teacher will observe and give
feedback.
Procedure/Instructions 3. Students will use the information in the handout to create a cover
letter for ONE of their job interests. (Cover letters created in MS
Word).
4. Students will print their cover letters and submit to the teacher or
upload them.
5. Students will act as a Human Resources Manager and review a
cover letter to determine if they would hire that candidate. The
teacher will randomly give a cover letter to each student. You
will need to match two students together.
6. Students will be put in pairs to give constructive criticism/advice
on each others cover letter.

Closing:
7. Students will write their comments/compliments/observations
about the cover letter that was given to them on the Human
Resources Manager comment sheet and submit before leaving
class.
