Our Class Book of Adjectives and

Adverbs
We are going to create a class book, but I need your
help! Each one of you will use what you know about
adjectives and adverbs to help compose our book. We
will be focusing on using adverbs and adjectives to
describe things we see and do everyday at school!
1. We will review what adjectives and adverbs are.
Remember: Adverbs tell us when, where, how, in
what manner, or to what extent an action is
performed.
Adjectives are describing words. They are
added to nouns to state what kind, what color,
which one or how many.
2. Next, you will make two lists. Your A list will
include at least 5 things you see at school. It may
be things you see outside of the school, as well.
(Ex: on the playground or at lunch) Later on, you
will use adjectives to describe one of these items.

For example: you could choose things you see in

your classroom (books, erasers, pencils, people,
etc.)
3. Your B list will include at least 5 things you do at
school (drawing, running, swinging, etc.) Later on,
you will use adverbs to describe one of these
actions.
4. You will choose one item from A list and one
item from your B list; make sure to choose your
favorite! (Ex: pencil and swinging)
5. You will use your Ipad to take a picture of the
item you chose on your A and B list. (For your
B list, either your classmate or I will take the
picture of you acting out the item you chose).
6. Next, you will choose 5 to 10 adjectives that
describe the picture you took for your A list.
7. You will then write at least 5 to 8 sentences that
describe your picture; make sure you use the
adjectives you chose.
8. For your B list, you will choose 4 to 8 adverbs
that describe what you are doing.
9. You will then write 5 to 8 sentences that describe
your picture; make sure you use adverbs to
describe what you are doing in your picture.
10. Lastly, we will edit and type your writing. We
will publish your adjective and adverb page into
our class book.

Remember use your best photography and writing

skills. After we have completed this project, we
will have a class book of adjectives and adverbs.

Adjective Example:

This is a red, slippery, and twisty slide. I can always find

this enjoyable and addicting slide at our schools
playground. I love to climb up the long stairs to my
favorite adventure at school. Once I get to the top, it is
a short, but exhilarating ride! This is why I love our
sweet and jaw-dropping slide.

Adverb Example:

I played my favorite sport, soccer, at school today.

Frantically, I rounded up all of my friends to come play
with me. As soon as we started the game, I quickly ran
down the field, dribbling the soccer ball. I ran swiftly
past my friend and kicked the soccer ball into the goal!
Joyfully, my team walked back to class.
