Technology in the classroom has evolved dramatically throughout the years. I remember back when I
was in elementary school and our technology that was mainly used was the old overheads or listening to
cassette tapes while following along Another included using the desktop computers in computer labs.
Todays technology may be using the Smart Board, Promethean Board, Elmo, Ipad, laptop or even ipods.
I see older students using Ipads for submitting their assignments for their work when I grew up handing
in hard copies. I do wish that I had the opportunity to be more consumed with the updated technology
when I was younger in school but it just makes me appreciate what all I have at my fingertips today so
much more. Technology use in the classroom allows students to use hands-on equipment to show their
work more efficiently and also in a well-timed manner. It also allows the students to add some of their
own flair to their work. It allows them to spread their wings a little. Although technology has a lot to
offer, the new and updated forms may be bit of a struggle to those whom already struggle. There are atrisk students whom may not have had much experience with all that is available to us today, therefore it
is difficult to stay tuned in. It is important for teachers to spend time with the students on how to use

the new technology properly. Practice, practice, practice. But if there are those students that struggle
with todays technology, why not allow them to do it the old fashioned way? I wish to never exclude
the great ideas and strategies that I was brought up to learn. I will continue to appreciate and use what
is offered to us today and what is new, but as a future educator I will, as well, educate my students in a
way in which it all began. I am excited to use a pleather of opportunities that will work best for my
students in a way that allows them to be comfortable in their learning environment and excited to learn.
