The next morning, Melinda knocked on the cabin door.

Good morning Dana, I have

something for you. Melinda said as she handed Dana a piece of paper with pictures and words
on it. I talked to your mom last night, and she told me that you use visual schedules in class
which helps you. I made this visual schedule for you, and every day before we start the activities
for the day, we can meet and make the schedule together.
Dana looked at the schedule, and Melinda explained the schedule for today. The schedule was
pink just like her cabin. I made it pink so that you would know it was yours Melinda said.
Everything that is yours here will be pink.
Dana held the schedule in her hand and felt so much relief. The first activity for the day was
going to the jungle gym to play, and after play time was art time. Dana loved the swings and she
was so excited to go and play.
Now put your schedule in your pocket, so you can look at it if you need to, okay? Melinda
asked.
Dana folded up her schedule, put it in her pocket, and ran to the jungle gym.
Dana saw that there were no swings available and that Elizabeth was on one of the swings. Dana
walked up to Elizabeth and said, This is my swing. Let me use it!
No, I was here first! Elizabeth argued.
Dana got angry and pushed Elizabeth off the swings. Elizabeth ran to Melinda crying. Melinda
told Dana that she was not allowed to play anymore and told Dana to sit next to her.
This is not fair! Dana thought to herself. I just wanted her to get off the swing.
Once play time ended, Melinda gathered everyone up in a circle.
Alright girls! Its time to go to the art room! Melinda yelled. Dana took out her schedule, and
sure enough art was after play time.
I feel so much better knowing what was going to happen next. Dana thought to herself.
Good job checking your schedule Dana! Melinda said.
Dana smiled and went to art class.
