Mechanism of Rotary Dryer

Rotary dryer is widely used in drying granule material in fixed moisture range such as yellow
ground in dry mortar industry, all kinds of moulding sand in casting industry and blast fumes
slag in building material/cement industry, small granule resistance and not have strict control
to smoke. According to different moisture requirement for dried material in various
industries, the finished product water content could be able to below 1-0.5%.

Working Principle (Drying sand using cylinder rotary dryer)


1) Materials enter the inner layer of the rotary cylinder to realize the drying process
along the flow.
2) The materials are lift up and scatter continuously by the shovelling plate at the inner
layer to realize the heat exchange.
3) The materials are moved to the other end of the inner layer and enter the middle layer
to perform the reverse flow drying.
4) Materials at the middle layer can fully absorb the heat dispersed by the roller cylinder
at the inner layer as well as the heat by the roller cylinder at the middle layer.
5) Meanwhile, the drying time is prolonged, and then the materials reach the best drying
state.
6) This gas stream can either be moving toward the discharge end from the feed end (known as
co-current flow), or toward the feed end from the discharge end (known as counter-current
flow)

7) The materials are moved to the other end of the middle layer and then fallen into the
outer layer, the materials are advanced in the outer cylinder in the manner of
rectangular multi-loop, and thus the material reaching the drying effect is rapidly
discharged out of the roller cylinder under the action of the hot wind.
8) The wet materials incapable of reaching the drying effect cannot move forward
rapidly for self-gravity, materials are fully dried in the rectangular shovelling plate,
thereby the drying effect is reached and water moisture content X the drying process
is finished.
9) The product that been dry will be outlet through the conveyer.
10) The exhaust gas that from the furnace of hot air that passes through dryer been release
through the dust box and exhaust fan.
