Unit Summary

In this unit, students will study the concept of space and the planets that make up the solar
system. The key concept of the science lesson is expressing facts of planets through
drawings . The key concept for the math lesson is graphs: analyzing and creating. The key
concept of the ELA lesson is storytelling.

1.)Students will be able to listen to a brief YouTube video


2.)Students will be able to work in groups of 3 or 4 to list facts presented
on their assigned planet (using YouTube video)
3.)Students will be able to work in groups 3 or 4 to draw ,using Kid Pix, a
picture for each fact of their assigned planet
Lesson 2 Objectives:
1.) Students will be able to create a graph using collected data.

2.) Students will be able to place planets in order from the sun.
Lesson 3 Objectives:
1.) Students will be able to listen to a recorded story with a small group and gather key facts
and information.
2.)Student will be able to work in their small group to write their own brief storybook (using
Storybird) about exploring a planet.
