Passport to Myths from Around the World


Your job is to uncover a variety of myths from different cultures, and become an expert on those myths for
your classmates. You must analyse a minimum of three stories in this project.

This project has two parts:


1) Find three or more myths from various sources. You may only use one myth that originates from
North America. Analyse each myth you read. You must include the following information:
i. The title of the myth
ii. Why the story is a myth (look at your Tale Untangler sheet for help)
iii. The myths country of origin
iv. A brief (3-5 sentence) summary of the story
v. Any literary devices used in the story (look at your literary devices chart for help)
vi. Interesting information (In this section you may choose to Google names of
characters to find out what they mean, see if the characters from this myth have
existed in other stories, look up vocabulary you do not know, or include any other
information that is relevant to the story)
2) Present all of this information in a visual passport for your classmates. You may choose the
format of this passportit could be a poster, a brochure, a website, a booklet, a powerpoint, etc. All
of the above information for each myth must be present in it. Somewhere in your passport, you
must include a world map (printed or hand-drawn) indicating where the myths originated
from.
