Mini Lesson Planning Tool for Integrating Technology

PURPOSE / OBJECTIVES:
Students will create a web based project using voki to describe an important historical figure
using facts found from research according to a teacher made rubric.
CURRICULUM STANDARDS:
[RL. 4.3] Describe in depth a character, setting,

or event in a story or drama, drawing on

specific details in the text (e.g., a character's thoughts, words, or actions).
[Tech. 3-5.12] Create a product using digital tools.
ACTIVITIES:
Students will use technology to research a historical figure chosen from a teacher provided list.
Once they have gathered information, the class will create a voki. Once all the vokis are
created, a virtual museum will be set up. Students will visit each station in the museum to
watch the vokis and learn about the figures.

I do know how to create vokis. I have created them and used them to present research like the children
will be doing in the lesson.
2. What technology skills do my students already have that are needed for this lesson?
Skills that they already possess that will be used for this lesson are research skills, webpage verification,
and simple internet navigation.
3. What technology skills will they need to learn to complete this lesson successfully?
Students will need to learn to navigate and create vokis on the website.
4. What is the appropriate setting for this lesson (classroom, lab, library, home)? Is this
setting available for my students to use?
A classroom with one to one technology would be most appropriate. The computer lab would work if
necessary.
5. What tools and resources will I need? (List of all Web sites, specific software and hardware,
and other needs.)

6. How much time do I need to allow for this lesson?
This lesson should be given a week to complete so that students have adequate time for research.
7. Who can help me with the planning and/or implementation of this lesson?
Grade level team teachers can use this lesson and help to implement it across the grade.
8. How will I assess the students learning?
A rubric will be used to grade the students use of the voki to give information about their historical figure.
