OFFICE AUTOMATION
1. What is computer Office Automation?
Office automation refers to the type of computer machinery and software used to
digitally create, collect, store, manipulate, and relay office information needed for
accomplishing basic tasks and goals. Raw data storage, electronic transfer, and the
management of electronic business information comprise the basic activities of an
office automation system.
2. Explain briefly what is a word processor, spreadsheet, database and others that we
can find in MS Office.
Word processor
A word processor is a computer program that provides special capabilities beyond
that of a text editor such as the WordPad program that comes as part of Microsoft's
Windows operating systems.
Spreadsheet
A spreadsheet is a sheet of paper that shows accounting or other data in rows
and columns; a spreadsheet is also a computer application program that
simulates a physical spreadsheet by capturing, displaying, and
manipulating data arranged in rows and columns.
Database
A database is a collection of information that is organized so that it can easily
be accessed, managed, and updated. In one view, databases can be classified
according to types of content: bibliographic, full-text, numeric, and images.
Powerpoint
PowerPoint is computer software created by Microsoft which allows the user
to create slides with recordings, narrations, transitions and other features in
order to present information.

Publisher
Microsoft Publisher is an entry-level desktop publishing application
from Microsoft, differing from Microsoft Word in that the emphasis is placed
on page layout and design rather than text composition and proofing.

3. List and explain briefly two features that we can use in MS Word, Excel, Publisher,
Access, PowerPoint and FrontPage.
MS Word
i. Use of alternate text for images in Word documents.
ii. Use of styles & formatting for marking up headers and lists.
