Students will be able to associate, name, and recognize words that start with F
Students will be able to read and write the letter F
The lesson will be recorded through collaborate , then uploaded, so that hearing impaired
students can re listen to the days events and clarify anything they were confused about. This
also gives parents an opportunity to see what the days events were and to help their child with
any material they may be having trouble with.
Academic Vocabulary Activities:
F They will have an Ed Modo page that has pictures of objects that start with F
We will discuss F, the sound it makes, how to write it, how to read it, and what starts with F.
Non-linguistical is the objects on the app page, video, and scavenger hunt.
Activities include: Small group work, scavenger hunt, coloring a picture to something that starts
with F and bringing it life with the colAr App, and class work.
Students discuss their objects they found in the classroom during scavenger hunt and students
will discuss other words that start with F together.
Students will be involved in a matching game at the end of all work.
Warm Up Do Now:

Anticipatory Set:
A Ed Modo page that has objects that start with the letter F
Have students try and figure out what they all have in common
Direct Instruction:

Explain to students what sound F makes. Have them repeat to each other. Aide will be
working with special education children making sure they fully understand, and can make the
sound to the best of their ability.Teacher will also have the box microphone that connects right
to the students with hearing aids.
Show students using smart board what F looks like, both lower case and upper case.
Show students a youtube video to direct instruction- helps visual learners to understand better
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiSpQ_6Qxo4
To wrap up the direct instruction the class will have an F scavenger hunt. Each student will
have to find one item in the classroom (that they can carry back to their seats) that starts with F
and bring back to their tables to discuss the objects with their classmates. The teacher and aide
will help students who are having difficultly.
Guided Practice:
Have students talk in small groups about other things that start with F. Teacher and aide will
walk around making sure words are correct.
Have students trace F and f on raised paper.
After the first two items are complete, students will get to pick a out something that starts with
F. They will get to decorate it and then the teacher will bring it to life using the colAr app!
Have a matching game for all students who finish their work early. They will be able to play a
matching game where they match the letter to a picture that starts with the letter., again using
the CutieMatch app.
Independent Practice/Formative Assessment:
Students will have a matching sheet and tracing sheet for homework.
Students must come up with 5 words (not discussed in class) that start with F and draw
pictures of them. Then they will have to upload them to Ed Modo. If a student does not have
Internet access at home, they will be allowed to use the in class iPads in the first five minutes of
class before the pledge of allegiance.
If students have trouble, they will have access to a collaborate room online for them to meet
with and talk to other students. The teacher will have this room automatically record when
someone is in it, to ensure work is being done and no bullying is occurring
Accommodations/Modifications:
Small group time for student (s) to learn from other students
Have microphone that teacher speaks into and connects directly to hearing aids
Make sure student is looking at teacher speak, and teacher is looking at student
Use the visual aids (like smart board, apps, and iPads)
Teacher will have recorded AudioBoom for the hearing impaired students to listen to and
practice the f sound.
The hearing impaired students will have an extra assignment to improve their speech, they will
have to complete their own audioBoom recording of them saying the F sound and words that
start with F. If the student does not have access to iPad or Tablets at home, they will be able

to sign one out of the classroom, because their practice is essential to learning the language to
the best of their abilities with hearing impairments.

Finally at the end of the lesson, the teacher will post her results into Weebly about her results
of the lesson with the hearing impaired students. She will be able to share if her efforts worked and if
the student understood the lesson and achieved the goals . This will help other teachers create lesson
plans with hearing impaired students. Also the teacher (if successful) will post the lesson on the
smartboard website for other teachers to use as well.
Using technolgy in the classroom will not only help the regualr education students stay engaged,
and support learning but wll make it easier for the hearing impaired students to see, hear, and
understand what is going on in the classroom.
