Lesson Idea:
As a form of pre-reading have students to make a chart of given
vocabulary words. They will then make a chart that will contain the
vocabulary word, definition, and a graphic which represents the
word.

Gain Knowledge of how Microsoft Word Can Be Used in English
Class.

unknown and multiple-meaning words and phrases based on
grades 9-10 reading and content, choosing flexibly from a range of
strategies.
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.L9-104.c: Consult general and specialized
reference material (e.g. dictionaries, glossary, and thesauruses)
both print and digital, to find the pronunciation of a word or
determine or clarify its precise meaning, its parts of speech, and
its etymology.

synthesize, and ethically use from a variety of sources and media.

 Problem Statement:
You must make a vocabulary worksheet for the words listed. You
will look up definitions for your vocabulary words on the computer,
then find a graphic which represents this word.
Procedures:
Students will be given a list of vocabulary words that will be part of
the next story they will be working on.

Students will then go to the computer lab and create a table using
Microsoft Word. This table will consist of vocabulary words,
