Genius Hour Presentations:

On Dec. 10th, from 9:15- 10:15, the entire 5th grade will be sharing their
Genius Hour projects, with each 5th grade class and their families invited. You
will NOT have to share in front of a whole group of people; rather, it will be
like a science fair where everyone will have their own small spot to share
with people as they walk by.
Part of this Genius Hour Fair will be you presenting you learning and work
that you did over the last 2-3 months. You can choose to do this in whatever
way best fits your learning style: powerpoint, movie, poster, etc. You can
choose to include whatever you think is important in your presentation;
however, you presentation MUST include answers and/or artifacts that show
information answering the following questions:

1. What was your BIG question that you centered your project around?
It was how to make an I-movie and how to do and interesting story with
characters and setting and a plot.
2. What was the process you went through?
Step by step what did you have to do to complete your project? What were all
the steps that you took? This could be shown in pictures, or drawings, or
video, or words
- First I had to decide what I wanted my story about then I took pictures with
photo booth and I put the pictures in i-movie and then I added effects and text
and then I tried putting music but it didn't work so I put audio.
3. What did you have to research and how did you research it?
BE SPECIFIC! What were all of the things that you had to research to complete
your project.
1. FOR EXAMPLE:
1. NOT THIS: I had to research how to repair a guitar (to vague
and not specific)
2. THIS IS SPECIFIC: Some areas that I had to research to restore
a guitar was:
1. How to sand and repaint a guitar.
2. How take of the neck of a guitar and straightening it out
using a truss rod
3. How to change tuning pegs.
4. What are the differences between pick-ups and which are
the best pick-ups for what I want to do with my guitar?
5. How do I replace electronics in a guitar?
6. How do I solder?
7. How do I replace a bridge on a guitar?
8. How do I sand down the neck to make it play faster?
9. How do I replace frets on a guitar?
I had to research how to make a better i-movie and Mr. Stevens
helped me a little bit too because he taught me how to put music

and Isabela G. taught me to put audio and she also taught me to

put a video in i-movie.
4. What did you learn?
You have three weeks left to work on these. Remember you will be presenting
this to others; I hope that you take pride in what you present.
-I learned many technical things and I also learned what a good story needs and I
learned how to do a good i-movie
