Describe and explain the process and information used to create this SLO.
After analyzing the Fall MAP data, 5th grade math was an overall area of concern for below grade
level students. According to NWEA, the Mathematics Status Norm for Grade 5, Beginning-of-Year
Mean is 212.9. Fifth grade classrooms mean scores were below the grade level norm expectancy for
beginning of the year. Listed below are each homerooms mean RIT scores:

Describe and explain the key instructional strategies selected for implementation to support
students in reaching the growth Target for this SLO.
Students will:
Demonstrate familiarity with the Learning Continuum expectations at their current math RIT
band
Share with parents the Learning Continuum expectations at their current RIT band and the
next RIT band
Create goals that will help them move to the next RIT band by the Spring testing session
Monitor and record individual progress toward goals
IXL Math
Complete daily I-Ready math computer instruction
Teachers will:
Provide students with individual data/goal sheets and ensure their understanding of the
Learning Continuum system of expectations
Conference with students during independent work time about progress toward their
individual goals
Use flexible grouping to maximize teacher time with students in small groups as they work
toward similar goals
Use formative assessments to determine student progress toward goals between Fall and
Spring testing sessions
Provide daily math warm-ups to serve as a continuation and support of classroom instruction
