Give Life a Chance
Throughout the past century, an abortion argument came along. The argument was to
pass the law and make abortion legal. It started from the Roe vs. Wade case. According to the
U.S Supreme Court, in a 7-2 decision, affirms the legality of a womens right to have an abortion
under the 14th amendment to the Constitution (Roe vs. Wade Fast Facts, Par.1). The ruling
affected laws in 46 states (Roe vs. Wade Fast Facts, Par.6). This final decision was made on
January 22, 1973. Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy in which the fetus or embryo is
vacuum out. This procedure have to occur during the first 12 weeks of the pregnancy. Everyday
a women is position in a situation where they have to choose between abortion and adoption.
Many say it should be the womens choice on aborting her baby or not. In this situation, women
shouldnt think about killing their baby because they dont want the baby; thats what adoption is
for. Also, doctors that perform this procedure classify abortion as Health Care in which its not.
Some think the fetus or embryo is not a living thing, but all things that contain cells are living.
Just because the child is not breathing outside of the womb, doesnt mean it should be killed.
Many websites, news articles, journals, etc. persuade women that abortion is safer then
delivering a baby. In a way it is because something can go wrong during the delivery, such as
pre-term labor and birth. Abortion have many effects behind it, and physicians are not discussing
the process with these women on the day before nor the day of the procedure which makes it
unsafe, because they dont know what to expect. Physicians and counselors isnt there with the
women to help them through the process; theyre only working to collect money. Also, people

who think it is okay to abort human kids, think its awfully wrong to abort animals. For example,
an owner of a pregnant cat and he/she has trouble finding a home for the kittens. Why not abort
the kittens? If the word got out that the owner abort the cats, it would be polices ready to take
that owner to jail for aborting those kittens. Yet, it is right to abort human kids and nothing
happens to the mother of that aborted kid. The immoral practice of terminating unborn fetuses
should be outlawed because it takes the life of a human, endanger the women, and adoption is an
option.
Terminating unborn fetuses should be outlawed because it takes the life of a human. Just
because the unborn fetus isnt born outside of the womb doesnt mean its not living or
breathing. Is abortion more like unplugging or more like chopping up? (Kaczor, pg.152). I
consider abortion as both, but chopping up sounds more harsh. Unplugging abortion is removing
the baby from the uterus, and chopping the babys body part to identify the arms, legs, spin, etc.
If its not stillborn, it should not be aborted. As McMahan frankly admits, The standard method
for performing abortions clearly involve killing the fetus: the fetus dies by being mangled or
poisoned in the process of being removed from the uterus (Kaczor, pg.153). If the women know
that pregnancy is not what shes expecting at the time, she should think about birth control. Some
women wait until they conceive then decide to abort the child when they could have thought
about pregnancy before it occur. Women have plenty of time to think about an abortion; before
the procedure, the women is shown an ultrasound. Many women choose life which is a blessing,
and women who doesnt choose life is called pro-choice. Being pro-choice does not help the life
of an unborn fetus.
Abortion can also affect the women in many ways. It can affect womens well- being
physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritual. It effect women physically with extreme

abdominal and back pain. Abortion also leave women suffering emotionally from depression,
nervous disorder, sleep disturbance, regret about their decision, etc. Abortion can also be
considered as abuse. For example, a happy wife got pregnant and her husband dont want the
baby, so he forces his wife to have an abortion. After that abortion, that women goes through
some type of depression or stress everyday all because her husband wasnt ready for a baby.
Some religions such as Catholic does not support abortion. They believe that aborting a child
will only send that women to hell, and she will have to deal with the consequences from God.
Not only do I agree with the Catholic, I have been in a situation when I had to choose between
abortion and keeping my baby. I was confused, helpless, felt alone, I was finishing my last year
of high school, and didnt even have a job. If I didnt want to keep my baby, I would give it up
for adoption to a family member. Even though I didnt have an abortion, I felt weird and sort of
depressed after hearing about those who had an abortion, because I could have been in their shoe.
Women often become isolated from people, even family members after their abortion
because theyre afraid of what others are going to say about them. Yet another random study
found that a minimum of 19% of post-abortion women suffer from diagnosable post-traumatic
stress disorder (PTSD). Approximately half had many, but not all, symptoms of PTSD, and 20 to
40 percent showed moderate to high levels of stress and avoidance behavior relative to their
abortion experiences (Abortion Risk, Par 13). If no one knows about the womens stress
disorder, it can lead to death. PTSD has major symptoms behind it. Sometimes women and girls
who have abortions are treated with compassion by clinic workers, but much more often they are
met with indifference or outright contempt (Morana, pg.18). Abortion is totally different from
having an ambulatory surgery. Before an ambulatory surgery, the patient sees his/her doctor days
before the surgery and again on the day of the procedure. On the other hand of abortion, the

women or girl only met the doctor right before he sticks the vacuum into her uterus. After the
procedure, the women will only be told to expect bleeding and cramps, but there is no painkillers
or antibiotics given to the patients. There are former abortion doctors and patients who tell their
testimonies on abortion sites to persuade women that abortion is not safe nor healthy. Abortion
kills babies, and it harms women physically, mentally, emotionally, etc.
In addition to banning abortion, adoption is always an option. In some cases people dont
want to carry the child and give it up for adoption because they got raped. Getting rape shouldnt
stop a women from giving up her baby for adoption, unless she has fetal abnormalities. In some
cases a pre-teen gets raped and her body is not mature enough to deliver a baby, but her body is
also not mature enough to have an abortion. Women come up with so many excuses to abort
their child, just because they have a choice and the right to take the life of a child inside of their
womb. Although abortion may seem the cheapest way out of the situation, it also leave the
women with mental issues along with other problems after the procedure. What women fail to
realize is that adoption is actually the cheapest way out. Women dont have to pay ANYTHING
to give a child up for adoption. Women should be appreciative for adoption programs because
going through the pain of an abortion, it should be the last thing on a womens mind. Unplanned
motherhood can put a women in a situation where she dont think before aborting her child. I
dont care how afraid a women or girl gets because she found out she was pregnant, this
particular situation should be talked about to someone and maybe that person can help that
women or girl. By choosing adoption, you give your baby the gift of a wonderful childhood,
adoptive parents who may otherwise have no opportunity a chance at becoming parents, and
yourself a better chance of moving on from this difficult time in your life (American Adoptions,
Par 13). It was so easy to legalize abortion, but the U.S Senate is giving us a hard time on

legalizing marijuana. I know that got off topic a little, but this situation is pointing out that the
people who has control this country in the past century and now, doesnt know the definition of
morally wrong.
In conclusion, terminating unborn fetuses should be outlawed because it is morally
wrong. As we all can see, the people of this country dont care about the life of a child, but yet
cries over a dying animal. Abortion should not be classified as Health Care; clearly it isnt when
theres women who suffer from the marks of an abortion and regrets of killing her unborn child. I
want to help change womens life by helping them understand that theyre not in the situation
alone. Abortion leave women afraid, stressed, depressed, etc. and that needs to change. Also, if
abortion wasnt legal, many women wouldnt consider it. Some people say abortion is murder
while others say it is just a fetus. Abortion terminate the lives of helpless, innocent babies.
Women should stop taking advantage of abortion just because theyre not ready for the expenses
of a child. Abortion is a battle against unborn babies, and it should be illegal everywhere in this
world unless a life threatening complication occurs.
