Draft Computing Curriculum Map

Aims:
The national curriculum for computing aims to ensure that all pupils:
can understand and apply the fundamental principles and concepts of computer science, including abstraction, logic, algorithms and data representation
can analyse problems in computational terms, and have repeated practical experience of writing computer programs in order to solve such problems
can evaluate and apply information technology, including new or unfamiliar technologies, analytically to solve problems
are responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information and communication technology.

Provide opportunities
to explore the internet;
- How the information
is sorted
- What the numbers

Create a algorithm for

getting up and going to
school on Scratch
- Predict what will
happen
- Design, write and debug
the program to
accomplish specific goals
including solving
problems by
decomposing them into
smaller parts
- Use sequence, selection
and repletion in
programs
- Use variables and
various forms of input
and output
- Use logical reasoning to
explain how some simple
algorithms work
- Detect and correct
errors

YEAR Continue to save files

Continue using Word
and PowerPoint to
practise and develop
skills such as presenting
data in digital content
Continue to evaluate
their work and each
others, and edit their

Provide opportunities to
explore the internet;
- Search for a specific
image;
The class are shown a
particular image, the
children need to race to
find the exact image on
the internet (exploring
how it will be found;
refine search criteria)
- Then search for some
images on different
search engines; why do
they not appear in the
same places?

Create a algorithm for one racing car game on Scratch;

- Predict what will happen
- Design, write and debug the program to accomplish
specific goals including solving problems by
decomposing them into smaller parts
- Use sequence, selection and repetition
- Use variables and various forms of input and output
- Use logical reasoning to explain how some simple
algorithms work
- Detect and correct errors
