Section 1.1. Recognition, Section 11.6.Recall Section 14.1. Part-time Employees, ______________

3. Nature of Grievance:
The Los Angeles Times did not inform or consult the Union in regards to the re-hiring of Marvin
Crayon violating Section 1.1 Recognition. The Los Angeles Times further violated the agreement
under Section 14.1. Part-time Employees. Marvin Crayon is NOT a qualified “Retired”________
journeyman pressman. Marvin accepted a company buyout due to financial circumstances______
severing his relationship with the company and is NOT of retirement age and currently receiving
unemployment benefits. The decision to re-hire Marvin is also in violation of Section 11.6.
Recall. There are currently over 50 qualified employees that are subject to recall that should be
recalled if there is a need to hire. Lance Farrar is being denied his recall rights under the contract.
