A. )My literacy essay is being submitted for the first time as of now because I was never
able to successfully upload it the day it was due. At that time, I had just purchased my Macbook
and I still am trying to get used to it. I understand that this grade will be the only grade I get for
this paper.
Definition Writing
My definition writing assignment got a score of one hundred so I did not need to do any
changes. I still revised it to see if maybe i had an errors but none were found.
Profile Essay
The profile essay contained errors such as format issues and no citations and some

grammar problems. In the draft that was graded it was pointed out that there was an unnecessary
space before the title. I deleted that spacing issue which was a formatting problem form using
pages on the Macbook. Citations were missing in the first sentence of the second paragraph of
the second page. I added a citation in that sentence to reference where the information came from
so you can find the reference in the references page. On the second to last sentence at the top of
page three, I added a citation to also give credit to the author who that information came from.
Another citation was added on page three in the first complete paragraph. In the first complete
paragraph on page 3 there was an error of bad word usage. I had put the word im and in the
portfolio version I changed it to he. These were all the errors corrected in the profile essay so
that it is finalized and polished to be put into my portfolio.
Research Proposal
My research proposal assignment received a one hundred percent and I went back and
still revised it but there is nothing to correct in it.

Reflection Essay

The annotated bibliography assignment was only missing a cover page. For my portfolio
version I went back and inserted a proper title page so that it is finalized.
Research Essay
My research essay had an unnecessary space before the title. I went back and removed
that space and also removed all the unnecessary spacings between all the paragraphs in the essay
that needed the correction. I also added an abstract to the beginning of the essay and subheadings
were added to each section. Citations were added to the fourth sentence of the third page.
Another citation was added on page 5 in the second complete paragraph in the third sentence. All
these citations were needed initially but for some reason i forgot to insert them. Also on page 5,
I broke up the confusing 5th sentence that was long and a run-on. By breaking up the sentence I
believe the paragraph is more fluent The paper is now in a good shape to be inserted into my
final portfolio.
Argument Essay
The argument essay had a weird formatting issue at the beginning of the paper. I was able
to move the paper down because for some odd reason it started in the title page. Also on page 3
in the first paragraph within the third sentence I used the word busted which was
unprofessional. I changed that word for seized so that the paper is more scholarly. Also within
that same page and paragraph I added a citation and a quote so that the paper is more strong and
fact based.

Reflection Essay
The literacy narrative we wrote in the early part of the semester really helped me
understand language more. I really had never thought about how important language is to each
person and it is one of the things we take for granted. Language helps us all in the academic
conversation and it especially helps to know the language that your industry requires you to
know to be successful in your career.
The profile essay helped fill the requirements to critically read, locate, and evaluate
reliable sources for your field of study. With this assignment I was able to understand more of
the industry that I am in. I also got to learn what are appropriate sources needed so you can
construct a paper that gets to the point but also has supporting information.
The research essay and argument essay helped me to learn to research properly. I also
learned what types of writing to use depending on the field of study you are in. The research
essay helped me get used to not putting my opinion into my writings. While the argument essay
let me put my opinion in the paper and at the same time i addressed both sides of the argument.
Accurate citations and APA formatting was something i have always struggled with in
college and also high school. This is the first time ever that i use APA formatting and the
assignment really helped me to get used to the fact my field of study will more than likely
require APA formatting so that I am in the academic conversation.
Presenting information as a group or individually was not done much in the course but
when we did present something as a group I learned to discuss ideas with other colleagues. We

had an opportunity to brainstorm words that relate to our area of study and i came to realize there
is so much that individuals can feed off of each others to generate ideas.
Semester Learnings

Reflection Essay
This semester I learned that I am actually a good writer when I sit down and focus and

plan ahead of time what I will be writing about. I also learned some really good resources to use
whenever I want to find sources. I also am very appreciative that I finally can format a paper in
APA style which I had never done in past years. At first I really struggled with citations because
I always write papers and never use direct quotations but this semester I was able to. I listened to
the teacher and took a lot of notes when we spoke about citing but i also always referenced to my
book that was purchased at the beginning of the year. One of my goals is to transfer in the spring
and I need a good grade from this class to get a scholarship. I want to continue pursuing my
business career, and get my degree so that i can hang it in my office. My degree will prove me to
be leader to the hispanic community that looks up to me.
Tips For Success

I advise your future students to plan out what they will be writing and to always use their book
when they have any questions about formatting. I thought I wouldn't use my book at all but it
was a very important resource so that I could receive decent grades. I also recommend that they
do not procrastinate at the end of the semester or at anytime in the semester. Typing papers
without having any logic is very common when you are running out of time. I just suggest they
take everything one step at a time and to not get overwhelmed because the course is not that hard
it just takes determination because you always provide us with class time to work on things.
