ICT Based Learning Task or ICT Introduction Plan

Before the introduction of computers and technology, we all had to wait on any
information that we requested from near or far. Today, with the changing environment and the
introduction of technology, if we need to keep up with the information age, the best way to do it
is by networking your computers through the internet. Networking can bring everything you
need to know right to your front door, to your workstation or while you are on the move and can
be defined as the exchange of information or services among individuals, groups or institution.
Its purpose is to link two or more computer devices to share data and can be categorized in
different ways such as Local Area Networks (LANs) - which services a school, homes, or an
office and Wide Area Networks (WANs) - networking cities, states and across the world, where
the internet serves as the largest WAN. Networking schools in the Caribbean is one way that
students and teachers can receive and share information easily as a teaching and learning tool.

Networking
We can network a classroom full of computers for the purpose of completing projects and
working along in class. But if there is no internet connectivity, the networking system will be
contained only within the classroom. Networking can be used specifically for the cultivation of

productive relationships for employment or business. Schools can network to share information
about problems they may have in health issues, high and low achievement, and way in which
these issues can be eradicated, contained or dealt with. This type of networking has already been
established in 27 countries
Receiving and Sharing Information
In an article of the First Meeting and Constituent Assembly by The European Network of
Health-Promoting Schools, experts noted that receiving and sharing information will promote the
exchange of experiences and information, where an initiative was proposed to form and
strengthen a network of Health Promoting Schools to improve the health of the entire education
system. Something as important as health education should be sensitized throughout the
education system and what is disseminated in one school should be disseminated in the other.

Teaching and Learning Tool

The tool that can be used is a wiki site. Students can log on to the site and make changes,
unlike the other websites. Instructions given by the teacher can simply be followed to complete
assignments and activities as a way of completing the school curriculum. It will not matter what
your geographic location is while you use. Access will automatically be given to you by the
class teacher as part of a learning group/community. The wiki site is not a complicated site, nor
is it loaded with too much features that will make it difficult to the user and has the necessary
features required for student interaction. The site is user friendly with minimal challenges,
whether the user possesses knowledge and skill in using technology or not.
I chose this topic due to my subject area. Using computers which has replaced
typewriters in the classroom requires networking so that the teacher will be able to guide

students to properly format their documents. Some students find it difficult to follow while
demonstrating on a whiteboard or performing the functions using a PowerPoint Presentation.
Additionally, students need to conduct research project using the internet and email the
information to the teacher thereafter. Teaching and learning becomes more efficient and
effective when there is a networking system in place to deliver this type of curriculum. Online
feedback is necessary in order to guide the students and correct their mistakes before submitting
the final assignment. If there is no networking in the classroom, students will have the
opportunity to use the work of others, getting involved in plagiarism.
