Proposal
Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation:
Cholangiocarcinoma is a cancer that starts in the bile duct which is a thin tube about 4 to 5
inches long that reaches from the liver to the small intestine. The major function of the bile duct
is to move bile from the liver and gallbladder to the small intestine, where it helps digest the fats
in foods. Cholangiocarcinoma is often labeled a silent disease because many of the symptoms go
unnoticed until the cancer has become too advanced. The best way of removing the cancer is to
perform surgery in its early stages, but instead if it reaches an advanced stage, ultimately
nothing can be done.
It was devastating to Mark Clements and his family when he was diagnosed with
Cholangiocarcinoma in October of 2005. Mark and his wife Marianne were expecting their
fourth child and did not want to loose a key member in their family. Frantically, the family began
researching possible options only to discover that nothing could be done. Mark passed in 2007
leaving family, friends, and a bright future behind, he was only 41 years old. The
Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation was created shortly after and managed by others who have or
who are currently suffering from the effects of this deadly disease. It is the Foundations hope and
vision to one day find a cure, in the meanwhile supporting families and patients that are currently
dealing with its devastating effects.
As a group we are volunteering to contribute newsletters, press releases, and public advertising.
We will be helping to gain more support and to educate others on the effects and current
problems associated with Cholangiocarcinoma.
Budget:
We will be responsible to cover all transportation costs to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation.
We will also cover the costs necessary to provide a reproducible form of our final documents as
well as a digital forms. All other potential costs will be covered by the Cholangiocarcinoma
Foundation.
Conclusion:
It is a privilege to provide the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation with our services. We will put
forth our best efforts in spreading awareness to society of this silent and deadly disease. We can
assure you we will follow through with our discussed plan and provide you with only our best
work.
