I. DESCRIPTION OF CONTENT & CONTENT TYPE (Fact, Procedure, Concept, or Principle):
What are students learning? Basic geometric shapes (circle, square, triangle) (fact) II. LEARNING OUTCOME (Objective): Given a worksheet and crayons, students will analyze geometrical shapes by categorizing them by color with 100% accuracy.

ENGAGEMENT (Motivational Activity): Pictures and questions Teacher will show pictures of objects to the class (e.g. house, sun, door, clock), then ask the class to describe them. Example: picture of the sun Questions1. How does the sun look? Does it have sides? Corners? 2. How does a house look like? Is it round? Does it have sides? Purpose: Students are learning about shapes in order to practice their geometry skills.
B. INSTRUCTIONAL SEQUENCE (Teaching Methodology With Student Activities):
Step #1: Introduce the word shape. A. T: Teacher will write down the word shape on the board, and ask the students what they think a shape is. B. Student response: students will raise their hand and share their thoughts. Step #2: Define shape A.T: Teacher will define the word shape to the class A shape is the surf ace or outline of a figure. B. Student response: Students will talk in partners and come up with their own definition of shape. Step #3 Describe circle A. T: Teacher will describe the surface of a circle, no sides or corners, and ask students if the picture from the flashcard is a circle. B. Student response: Students will shout out, yes or no, if the picture is a circle or not. Step #4: Examine class for circles. A. T: Teacher will ask students to look at their surroundings and spot any objects shaped as circles. B. Student response: students will point at objects shaped as circles Step #5: Identify angle A. T: showing pictures of objects with angles, the teacher will identify what an angle is; the space between two lines from a common point. B .Student response: students will analyze the picture and find the angles. Step #6 : Describe square A. T: Showing a picture of a square, the teacher will ask students how many sides and angles a square has. B .Student response: students will count out loud the sides and angles of a square. Step #7: Examine class for squares. A.T: Teacher will ask students to look at their surroundings and spot any objects shaped as squares. B. Student response: students will talk to their peers and then share their findings to the class. Step #8: Describe Triangle. A. T: Teacher will show a picture of a triangle and ask students how many sides and angles a triangle has. B. Student Response: students will count out loud the sides and angles of a triangle. Step #9: Examine class for triangles. A. T: Teacher will ask students to look at their surroundings and spot any objects shaped as triangles. B. Student Response: students will examine their surroundings and raise their hands to share their discoveries. Step #10: Review colors. A. T: Teacher will show colored flashcards to the class. B. Student response: Students will shout out the color of the flashcard.
C. APPLICATION ACTIVITY (Practice and/or Reflection): (Guided practice)
Students will color the shapes on the worksheet (e.g. color all triangles in red, all the squares in blue, all the triangles in orange.) D. MATERIALS & RESOURCES: PAPER, CRAYONS, FLASHCARDS OF SHAPES AND COLORS. V. ASSESSMENT STRATEGIES (Methods For Obtaining Evidence Of Learning): Formative (During Lesson): Teacher will ask questions during the lesson. Example: Raise your hand if you think this is a triangle? How many sides does a square have? Does a circle have sides? Summative (at the end of the lesson): Students will review their colors and shapes at the end of the lesson. Teacher will show flashcards of shapes and colors to the class, students will shout out the colors and their shapes. VI. ACCOMMODATIONS and/or MODIFICATIONS FOR INDIVIDUAL LEARNERS: ACCOMODATION: If a student is struggling with the assignment, he or she will be given a cheat sheet with the shapes and their assigned colors in order to compare the shapes on the worksheet. MODIFICATION: If the student is done with the assignment, he or she can create a drawing using shapes.
