Family and Community Services People who work in this group of


occupations work in community agencies to help others who face a
variety of problems. Their clients include the homeless, those with
physical and mental problems, the aged and poor, and those who are
without a job. They attempt to find sources of help for their various
needs.
Marketing Communications People who work in this group of
occupations make and carry out plans to market a product or service.
Some draft and manage the plans. Others do art work, write text, and
design ads to promote the product or service in print form, radio, or
TV ads.
Administration and Administrative Support People who work in
this group of occupations manage places where people of all ages are
learning new things. These places include schools, daycare centers,
colleges, businesses, and community organizations. They develop
curriculum, hire and manage those who teach, set policies, and
oversee all day-to-day activities.
Performing Arts People who work in this group represent a variety
of specialties that are needed to produce theatrical and musical
productions. These specialties include those who plan the details of a
production and direct it, agents who find jobs for actors or musicians,
people who design costumes and stage sets, and crews who handle
lighting and other technical things. This group also includes the

manage health-related information and facilities. The group includes
those who manage hospitals, health centers, nursing homes, and other
medical care facilities. It also includes those who collect information
about clients, record it, and make it available to those who need to
know it.
Professional Support Services People who work in this group of
occupations provide a variety of special services in school settings.
These individuals help students with personal, physical, and
educational problems. Examples of these occupations are school
counselors, social workers, psychologists, and speech pathologists.
Correction Services People who work in this group of occupations
are concerned with youth or adults who have broken the law. Some
investigate and solve crimes. Some guard criminals after they have
been placed in jail or prison. Others work with offenders who will
soon leave prison or have already left to help them find and keep
work. Still others monitor prisoners for a period of time after they
have been released.
Information Support and Services Many who work in this group of
occupations collect, enter, and analyze data by computer. Some
organize computer databases. Others write computer programs. Still
others design the logic of computer systems and oversee their
operation.

Therapeutic Services People who work in this group of occupations


deal directly with patients to provide whatever kind of medical care
or treatment they need. Many kinds of technicians, nurses, and
medical assistants who work under the direction of medical doctors
are included.
