Exercise 2: Research/Argument Proposal
1. Is the Death Penalty also know as Capital Punishment the right way to punish
convicted criminals for there actions?
2. Apposing Claim.
a. The death penalty in the U.S and around the world is perceived as being
used improperly against poor, minorities, and members of racial ethnic
and religious communities.
b. People who are poor are usually the ones getting the death penalty
sentence. Thats why youll never see O.J Simpson on death row as the
old saying goes capital punishment means them more so it is fair and the
right kind of punishment? Therefore, a life sentence must be less
deterrent than a death sentence. We must execute without the capital get
the punishment says Helen Prejean.
c. Cost taxpayers a lot of money because here is more trials that have to be
ran, more experts, and twice as many attorneys that have to be paid and for
what it is a waste.
3. Important claim
a. In prison inmates have nothing more to fear they fear death murders as
long as it is possible, their execution protects citizens from future murder.
b. Death penalty Honors human dignity by treating the defendant as a free
moral actor able to control his own destiny for good or for ill; it does not
treat them as an animal with no moral sense.

4. Questionable or problematic
a. I think it is questionable to say whether or not the death penalty is acting
like an animal, by simply taking a life because of the wrong doings of
another individual two wrongs do not make a right in my opinion and it
does not benefit anyone when taking another human beings life feel it is
wrong a waste of time and immoral
5. My Claim
a. There is a better way to handle convicted criminals and rotting behind a
bar and having to live with what they did on their cautious for life is more
cruel and harmful in my perspective. Wasting money on people that dont
deserve it is irresponsible and ignorant on our part. Paying expensive
money to have a trial and an antidote to execute a person is just to much.
Keep them in prison it is much more harmful for a person and is more
torture, I feel your giving them the easy way out.
6. Peoples views on my claim.
a. People might think of claim as ignorant as well because they feel why a
person should be able to live after what they did and that they should die
and feel the same way the person had to feel or even death because of
there no good deeds. Everyone has there opinion on the matter. People
might also say they should die because you dont want them committing
the same crime again.
b. I feel all of those assumptions are true but in the end it helps nothing and
no one so why keep executing if it does not change what has happened or

the views of that person. So the conclusion is to wipe out there life from
the face of the earth? I feel it is just not right and there are other options
such as internal incarceration.
