Client Advocate
Location: Santa Barbara County
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Client Advocate provides
direct services for resident and non-resident clients according to their unique
needs. These services include crisis line coverage and intervention; response to
911 domestic violence calls with law enforcement and immediate and ongoing
services to victim and children; residency intake interviews, assessments and
goal plans; advocacy, referrals, counseling and other appropriate services. This
position requires working night shifts.

Major Responsibilities
1. Respond to domestic violence crime scene to provide support, information,
and referrals to domestic violence victims and their children. Provide
advocacy services to help meet victim and children's needs for safety, food
and shelter, medical attention, legal and social services, counseling, etc.
Arrive at scene within 15 minutes of notification by law enforcement
dispatch.
2. Provide direct services to residents and non-residents according to DVS'
philosophy and policies. These services include but are not limited to:
crisis line coverage; conducting eligibility and intake interviews;
performing client assessments; assisting clients in creating and achieving
a goal plan for independence (covering areas such as housing, income
source, legal and medical needs); advocating on behalf of clients with
other agencies; providing appropriate referrals; accompanying clients to
appointments as needed; and providing one-on-one emotional support to
clients.
3. Keep accurate records as necessary for case management and statistical
documentation.
4. Attend weekly staff meetings to participate in case management.
5. Must be available for nights and weekends and participate in cooperation
with other staff in providing shift "back-up" when necessary and in
maintaining the good order, cleanliness and security of the shelter.

6. Acts as DVS spokesperson and public advocate on domestic violence and


women's issues when appropriate.
7. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Experience working with survivors of domestic violence or in the crisis
intervention field desirable. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
Ability to work well with others. Interest in needs and concerns of battered
women and their children. Must have own vehicle, a valid CA driver license, and a
good driving record. Bilingual required.. Must complete 40-hour Domestic
Violence Training prior to assuming duties of this position.

MFT Intern
Location: Santa Barbara County
Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Director, the MFT Intern shall provide
clinical services to clients of Domestic Violence Solutions.

Responsibilities
1. Be knowledgeable of and follow all legal and ethical guidelines set forth by
the Board of Behavioral Sciences for the State of California. This includes,
but is not limited to confidentiality, mandated reporting and dualrelationships.
2. Complete 40-hour Domestic Violence Training.
3. Provide individual, family group and play therapy for DVS clients as
assigned by Clinical Director.
4. Complete all client documentation in a timely manner.
5. Seek clinical support when needed and follow directives of Clinical
Director.
6. Participate in weekly clinical supervision and weekly case management
meetings.
7. Provide monthly statistical information to Clinical Director.
8. Complete BBSE hours monthly for Clinical Director signature.

9. Be available for emergency clinical support when necessary.


10. Arrive to scheduled sessions and meetings in a timely and prepared
manner.
11. Participate in agency outreach.
12. Complete accurate billing records.
13. Responds to domestic violence crime scene to provide support,
information, and referrals to domestic violence victims and their children.
Provides advocacy services to help meet victim and children's needs for

14. Must be available for night and weekend on-call shifts to support the 24hour crisis line. Arrives at scene within 15 minutes of notification by law
enforcement dispatch.

Qualifications
Registered intern status with The State of California required. Experience working
with Domestic Violence and Crisis intervention preferred. Bilingual in English and
Spanish required. Must have own vehicle, a valid CA driver's license and a good
driving record.
