The fifth SLO is Recognize, evaluate, and employ the features and contexts of language and design
that express and influence meaning and that demonstrate sensitivity to gender and cultural
differences (Bruce, 1). The progress report satisfies the fifth SLO because it demonstrates gender
equality and sensitive language that does not show differences between gender and cultures. The
progress report is written to a general audience since the iFixit team audience can be either male or
female.
The sixth SLO is Improve ones own and others writing skills through the assessment and critique
of written works (Bruce 1). As shown in the portfolio, the draft and the final draft are included
which shows the improvement made from feedback given by you and other peers. In addition, a peer
review done for another group is included in the additional work tab to show that as a group we
helped another group improve their report.
This portfolio represents the achievements in my writing compiled throughout the semester to show
the proficiency in my writing skills. I believe that I have acquired enough knowledge to be able to
write documents throughout my education and career. The six SLOs achieved in this class have
helped me gain experience in writing formal letters, memos, proposals, and resumes which will guide
me to reach my goal of becoming a nurse.
Sincerely,
Susana Garcia
