Students will also have the chance to assign themselves a grade using the same rubric that I will assess
them with and to give a participation grade for the members in their group. These participation grades will
factor into their overall participation grade.
This assessment addresses the essential questions because it requires students to take all of the
information they have learned in this unit and apply it in the form of a brochure. Students must address
the question what is poverty and does it currently exist in the US, through their introduction of the topic
and poverty in Raleigh panels. Students address the question If poverty exists today, what factors have
assisted its existence, through the panels for historical implications, artistic implications and the causes
of poverty. Students will also address the question how can poverty be combated, through the
combating poverty panel.
