Edutopia
2. http://www.edutopia.org/blogs/tag/collaborative-learning
3. Overview- Edutopia is a website for 21st Century learners that gives a tremendous
amount of information to teachers in regards to Core Strategies. Some of these
strategies include comprehensive assessment, integrated studies, project-based
learning, social and emotional learning, teacher development, and technology
integration. Some other topics include blended learning, classroom management,
curriculum planning, and game-based learning. These topics all include sources, videos,
and discussion boards so you can strategize with other teachers.
4. Analysis- I really liked this site, because unlike any other site I have been exploring, this
one had a lot of information specifically designed to help teachers create a variety of
learning techniques across many different real life situations such as diversity and
blended families. I feel like I would use this site in the future, if I come across a
particular situation where I need other teacher input rather than discussing it with
employees, that way I can feel confident about my teaching strategies that I chose to
incorporate in a diverse classroom. The videos along with the teacher discussion boards
are very helpful. The more time you spend on it, the more ideas you get. But, I
specifically liked the Blended Learning: Working with One iPad video. It gave me an
alternate way of teaching in the scenario that Im teaching with only one iPad in the
classroom. Overall, this site was very useful to me and I will continue to use the
resources as I get closer to becoming a teacher.

Spellingcity.com

2. http://www.spellingcity.com/teacher-resources.html
3. Technology Overview - Spelling city allows students to engage in 21st century skills in
many ways. They can collaborate together and perform spelling/vocabulary activities,
along with take their spelling test online. It is a great tool for both teachers and students
especially when youre looking to make spelling more fun and manageable. Teachers
can use word lists that are already there on the site or they can create their own. Once
the student turns it in, it is already graded and sent to the teacher to view along with
parents.
4. Analysis - I would most definitely use this in my classroom, I loved how it would use the
word in a sentence in order to establish the right usage of the word. It also lets the
children see what they got wrong right away and spells it out correctly to them so they

know how it should be spelled. I would let the kids explore this site because there are
some great tools/games that they can use to build on their spelling/vocabulary. I would
also create my own word lists and have them complete spelling tests on
Spellingcity.com. Overall, I really enjoyed this site and I will be sharing it with fellow
class-mates.

2. http://www.mobymax.com/MM/MT/lessons/worksheet_print/1/3/0/lesson
3. Overview- MobyMax Math is an educational curriculum based web site for teachers and
home school. It has several options to explore along with math there is also vocabulary,
language, literature, writing, etc. There are fun games to play to enhance basic learning skills
for every grade level up through 8th grade. Teachers can access how each of their students are
doing and they can also award points toward contests/prizes. It also has teacher printout
worksheets for every subject and grade level through 8th grade.
4. Analysis- It was a little confusing at first, but once I signed in for a free trial it became more
accessible. I have seen this website in action in my 4th grade class that I'm doing my practicum
hours in. The kids seem to really enjoy it and they are doing very well on their math testing. I
would mainly use this site for free-time during a math period after going over the skills together
on the board and then the students could log in and play games or do a worksheet that would
cover the basics of whatever math skill I'm teaching them. I would also use the contest board to
get the kids excited about doing math and help them stay on track better with the individual
curriculum based on students learning levels.
Journal 41. ABCya.com
2. http://www.abcya.com/
3. Overview- This site is an Elementary based learning site for Kindergarten through 5th Grade.
There are different games to play for each grade level, along with cross-word puzzles and word
search. There is not much to offer for a teachers perspective, but I could see it being a great
tool for parents to use to keep their kids excited about learning. The games are free and
progress (get harder) as you keep playing. It's very colorful and appealing to the eyes. Some of
the categories include Numbers, Letters, Holiday, and Just for Fun.
4. Analysis- I liked this site but I feel that it's more for fun and not really intended for classroom
use. I would use this as a free-time activity if students are done with another assignment. They
can pick an age appropriate game that goes along with the subject matter that is being taught.
As a teacher, there are some print out options attached to the cross-word puzzles are useful

especially if you would like to tie in Holiday activities. Overall, I thought this site was a great site
for educational games, but as a teacher I would not think of it as a first resource.
Journal 51. The name of the technology is Liberio.
2. http://www.liber.io/ - this is a free create your own ebook educational app.
3. Technology Overview Liberio is a great tool to use for educational purposes. It allows
both students and teachers to create their own ebook. There are various styles and
fonts provided to the user and they can even download pictures of artwork, personal
photos, journaling, etc. if they want to add it to their ebook. Teachers can also use it to
show a collection of students work to organize into a classroom activity.
4. When I first came across this new technology, I was interested in how I could use it in
the classroom. I found that there were many different applications that were available
for the user in order to develop a successful ebook of their own and it could also be
published. I personally have a childrens literature book that I wrote and I would like to
use Liberio to create my very own ebook. In the classroom, I would use this technology
to collect various forms of work from each student and create a classroom ebook. This
would help students reflect on work that they have done throughout the school year. I
would also like to use it as a final project for CLD students (Culturally and Linguistically
Diverse). It would help these students with the process of writing and publication. For
example, I could do a unit on Family and the student could create their own ebook using
this educational app and share it with the class at the beginning of the school year. After
the unit, I could display their work in the school library allowing students to read other
students stories and reflect on what they learned from each other.

2. http://www.pebblego.com/welcome_pgo/animals.html
3. Technology Overview This technology includes standard based material for teachers,
students, and librarians. The course content includes K-12 social studies, U.S. History,
Civics, Technology, Language Arts, and Fine Arts curriculums. Lesson Plans are available
for teachers along with interactive eBooks/videos for students to engage in. This
technology was formed around the Multimodal literacy learning theory. It is a visual,
digital, media based learning environment. Some of the documents you can access with
free trial offer include animals, earth & space, biographies, and social studies content.
4. Analysis I believe this technology would be very beneficial in some classrooms. If the
children all had access to a computer, that would be ideal. Otherwise, the teacher could
upload some of the videos to his or her computer/Smart board to share with the class.

After the kids explore what the site has to offer, you could let them design their own
project based on the content that was provided to them. There was also a very fun
lesson plan that was mentioned through the teacher resource icon that basically
involved categorizing what animals display similar/ different body movements. Along
with some various cross-word puzzles that were easy to access, I found the teacher
resources very helpful and creative. I would more than likely use this technology in my
classroom.
Journal 7Name of technology- Discovery Education
URL- www.discoveryeducation.com/teachers/free-lesson-plans/weather-maps.cfm#pro
Overview- This website offers a whole new perspective on learning in the classroom. It
transports the student into a worldly adventure that they may or may not ever be able to
experience on their own. Through interactive live animation and digital textbooks, the students
are more engaged and in control of what they want to learn. There is also a lot of feedback for
teachers to refer to so they can implement effective and efficient learning strategies for each
student.
Analysis- I really enjoyed exploring the Discovery Education program. It was clear what they
were offering to teachers/students and I believe it had a lot of potential for making learning
fun. The video streaming was one way I would use this technology in the classroom. There were
so many to choose from according to age group and content. Another way I could use Discovery
Education would be through the digital textbooks, which provided many hands-on learning
activities within every content area. The assessment tool would also come in handy when
tracking the progress of your students. Over all, this was one of my favorite new technologies
that I have come across so far.

%5D=teacher%7Cautocomplete%7C4&term_meta%5B%5D=lessons%7Cautocomplete%7C4
Overview- Pinterest has so much to offer, the possibilities are endless. Their search engine
makes it easy and fun to find whatever you are looking for. There are people/blogs to follow
and when you follow someone who is a teacher themselves, you can observe what they are
using in their classroom. There are links to free websites for printing classroom materials and
you can find nearly anything and everything in your content area. Coloring pages, crafts,
experiments, recipes, etc. are among some of the many items available through Pinterest.

Analysis- Before now, I was not very familiar with Pinterest, but now that I have joined it has
become my favorite go to site for finding new ideas/crafts to implement in a classroom setting.
I am currently using it for an art lesson in my pre-school classroom. It is a very useful tool for
teachers and students. If I were to assign it to a student, I would have them find a particular
subject of interest and create an art project/diorama to go along with their topic. This is also
great for personal use, but be careful because it's addicting.
