Objectives:

1. Understanding the phase control method.

2. Determining the smallest trigger angle min and the
largest trigger angle
max
3. Investigate the gate control of triac.

Equipments:
1. Resistors, potentiometer
2. Triac , Diac.
3. Lamp 12V
4- Capacitor 1uF
5-. AC/DC stabilizer.
6-. Plug-in Board 297*300.
7-. Connecting leads, bridging plugs.
8-. Oscilloscope.

THE GRAPH OF THE EXPERIMENT:

Exercise 1:
The potentiometer control the gate voltage so the triggering angle
the brightness of the lamp.

Exercise 2:
1-maximum and the least brightness.
= 126o
= 180-126= 54o
2- Smallest trigger angle and the most
brightness.
=36
= 180-36= 144o

Exercise 4:
Setting the trigger angle to 120o we obtain the
following graphs of the capacitor and gate voltages.
Peak value of charging voltage:
VBR = 5V
Peak value gate voltage:

VGT = 1.9V

Exercise 5:
The Application of this circuit is the dimmer circuit
which control the amount of brightness

Conclusions:
1. When we decrease the gate voltage the break over
voltage will increase.
2. We get a maximum light when the angel is
minimum.
3- We get a minimum light when angle is the largest.
