Guided Reading: Read aloud of Humpty
Dumpty. Children and teachers will skim
through the book to describe what they
see and the pictures and analyze what
might be happening. They will then go
back to desks to cut out pictures of
humpty dumpty story and place them in
the prior sequence. Children will then
share the order they put it in.
Stations/Independent reading:
o Stations
IPad station for interactive
Humpty Dumpty story game
Writing station where they
practice writing the words

Understanding the concept of the number

o Students will cut and past pictures
depicting humpty dumpty events
and match it to pictures of rhyming
words

changed in the story
o Children will write their alternative
ending of humpty dumpty through
the use of pictures and labeling
Children will act out the original humpty
dumpty as a group.
o They will then act out several
different Humpty Dumpty
alternative stories written by peers
in class
Science: Children will do science egg
experiment. Children will experiment

bouncing a raw egg, a boiled egg, and an


egg soaked in vinegar. They will then
chart results

to assess comprehension
Stations/Independent reading:
o Stations
IPad racing game. Children
must answer questions in
order to help the tortoise win
Children practice writing their
names to strengthen fine
motor skills
o Independent Reading
Students will learn about number orders
and the concept of number 6
o Each number will have a picture of
an event from the Hare and the
Tortoise. Children will practice
placing numbers in order by
recalling the sequence of events in

the story

Based on characteristics of tortoise


children will come with animals that have
the opposite characteristic. Ex. A turtle

has a hard shell for its body, but what


animal has a soft body? A tortoise walks
slowly on land, what animals move fast?

habitats
o They will compare similarities and
differences to a turtle
