The existence of the need for an equipment, especially the distance
measuring device or instrument may facilitate in making the
measurements. The results of these measurements are important data
for the work results to be obtained. Application of ultrasonic sensors in
digital rangefinders are digital distance measuring tool that can be
used in the measurement of distance, the distance measured object
can reach 370 cm. Ultrasonic sensor (ping) is an ultrasonic distance
sensor that can detect objects within a distance of 370 cm. This final
report is aims to study the working principle of an ultrasonic sensor
(ping) as a detector at a distance of the digital distance measuring, by
studying books, discussion with the supervisor, and testing. Tests
performed by the method of test points on pin I / O from the ultrasonic
sensor (ping). The measurement results show a large voltage
differential when the distance measurement to the object to be
measured differently. On the results of measurements on a pin I / O
ultrasonic sensor (ping) obtained measurement results, which at the
time of the digital distance measuring to measure the distance of 50
cm, 5 volt input voltage and of 4.9 volts output obtained, when
measuring the distance off 100 cm, 5 volt output voltage and of 4.8
volts output obtained, the farther the object to be measured so that
the resulting output will be smaller.
