1. How did the Cold War affect Latin America? Why did the United States get involved?

Through the same time as the Cold War, the United States and USSR were taking the power they had in
the world and using it in contradiction of each other to try to abolish the other. In the process of doing
so, the countries were inquiring every other one in the world to take sides with one of them that they
would have support from, which was based on the way your government ran its system politically. In
Latin America the leaders presented violence and cruelty irrespective of communist or not at this time.
Some countries in Latin America like Guatemala, Chile, Nicaragua, and Cuba were communist states, so
the United States often times intervened in order to fight against the Soviet Unions power.

2. What is the difference between left and right wing? And why is it so confusing? The people of the
right wing versus the people of the left are those who have different opinions politically. Those who
believe that more people should be taking part in vital government decisions to give the people a voice
in what goes on in their society are called the liberals. They believe that health care should be handed to
the people by the government. These people are from the left wing. They have one person making
decisions in more extreme right wings, theyre smaller systems, and they think that the government
should not help the people as much. They think people are responsible for their actions, and think their
effort towards what they want is whats going to help them in society. Neither is believed to have better
benefits than the other considering they both have flaws.

3. Why did the United States get involved with Cuba? The United States relied heavily on economic
income from Cuba. They controlled all sugar production from the area, which happened to be their
main crop. All of Cubas money was going mostly towards the United States and their government
which didnt run smoothly, so most of the people in their population were classified as poor.
Fulgencia Batista overthrew the countries government in a coup lasting for six years, when Fidel
Castro overthrew his government. As a citizen of the United States, access into Cuba is not allowed
to this day, and we no longer trade with them. Censorship is at a high in the area and Castro is still in
power. This has made people very unhappy, and because of this, many have tried to escape the area
to get to Florida.

One went by the name Jacobo Arbenz Guzman, and he put in place many land reforms that were
communist. The United States, being a very strong anti-communist nation, hated that he had done this.
The CIA was made to help overthrow Guzman in 1954. It followed a lot of fighting and violence under

If democracy is a goal of the L.A nations, what does a nation have to have in order to achieve this goal? I
trust that in order to be a democracy, a nation has to have strictly compulsory human right laws. In
order to be a democracy a nation needs to have fair and equivalent privileges for gender and jobs. Any
female should be permissible to do a man job and vice versa, because in a democracy, people all can
work towards what they want, they are free in this kind of government.
